If you suffer from acute or chronic pain, your quality of life can be seriously debilitated. Pain disrupts and may make impossible many everyday activities, from personal hygiene to mobility to even simple tasks such as picking up an object.
Fortunately, there are many pain management options available at True Potential MD. One option is the use of PRP (platelet-rich plasma). This cutting-edge technique uses the healing factors in your own blood to stimulate tissue regrowth, which can help to address pain at its source.
Blood is composed of three primary components: red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. Red blood cells carry oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from the rest of your cells, platelets seal breaches in blood vessels by causing blood to clot, and plasma is the liquid medium that cells flow through.
To produce PRP, we extract a sample of your blood, then run it through a centrifuge which removes red blood cells, leaving just platelets and plasma. This process takes only about ten minutes. The resulting PRP is then injected into the treatment site, where the platelets stimulate the healing of tissue. The advantage of using PRP is that since the materials involved are your own blood, there is no risk of rejection and no pharmaceuticals or other chemicals are used.
PRP can be used at many sites throughout the body to treat different kinds of pain, including:
- Arthritis and joint pain
- Acute injuries to the neck, spine, joints, etc.
- Muscle and tendon tears
- Pinched nerves
- Sprained and strained ankles
- Ligament tears, sprains, and pulls
This simple procedure involves no downtime, and patients are able to resume regular activities immediately. Total procedure time is determined by how many injections are performed. No anesthesia is required, though patients can request topical numbing cream if they experience discomfort.
PRP allows patients to live life pain-free using the healing power of their own blood. Contact our office for more information about PRP and to schedule an appointment.
So I’ve been on hormone therapy for a few years and but hated having to constantly inject myself every 2 weeks and the hormone fluctuations were rough sometimes. I decided to look around from pellet therapy and found Dr. Mack provided what I was looking for. When I finally got a chance to meet her, she was so sweet and really attentive, not only that, she noticed my hypothyroidism from my blood test (something I totally forgot to ask her about when I was there!)
I started my journey to better health in January of 2015. Since then I’ve lost 60 pounds and feel great. As well, I’ve started working with their functional medicine doctor, Dr. Mack. She is compassionate, kind and oh so knowledgeable. Every step of the way I’ve been monitored physically and nutritionally… I cannot express it enough that if you are looking for a journey to better health this is definitely the place you should start!
